Aluminum a Sustainable material

Aluminum

Due to its advantageous properties, aluminum is an environmentally friendly and highly efficient material. Replacing heavier materials in transportation, for example, the light weight of aluminum leads to fuel savings and reduces carbon emissions. Its high resistance to corrosion can further enhance the durability of many end products and thus allow for keeping them longer in use and reduce waste.

Once products have to be taken out of service, aluminum can be infinitely recycled without any loss of quality. As a non-degradable metal, reprocessed aluminum has the same properties as primary aluminum made from the raw material bauxite. Recycling saves about 95 percent of the initial energy and the greenhouse gas emissions necessary to produce primary aluminum, which make aluminum one of the most cost-effective materials to recycle.

These unique properties make aluminum a sustainable material that will continue to be used in more and more industries.

Environment

Special attention was given to preserving the environment. A considerable investment was made in incinerator and heat recovery systems. A waste water treatment unit was also installed in which the plant water is purified and re-used for irrigation of the gardens and landscapes surrounding the plant.

Social responsibility

It is the philosophy of Orbit that economic success and social environmental responsibility are not mutually exclusive.

As a family business, we place strong emphasis on creating and maintaining long-term relationships with all stakeholders as well as satisfying today’s needs without burdening future generations.
